I am just at the start of planning out my Action Against Hunger Dinner Party. What I’m planning would probably be better described as a foodie supper party because I really want to do something quite informal, although quite foodie at the same time! I’d love some comments and feedback about this because I’d like to make it a special occasion.
So here are my thoughts to date.
I have a beautiful new Emil Henry Tagine. For that reason alone, I fancy making a tagine dish…and that sets the theme for the Dinner quite firmly in the Middle East. That should also allow me to indulge my love of aubergine based dishes, When I was writing about ‘Iran the Restaurant’ I was charmed to find out that the aubergine is called the potato of Iran. And, I’m not the best pudding cook in the world, but, if I serve a Middle Eastern Feast, I can provide pastries from some of the Middle Eastern Delis in the area and serve with strong fresh coffee and CHEAT;)
I have a few friends who don’t eat meat, although everyone I’m planning to entertain will eat fish. So as things stand, this is my working menu for the foodie supper:-
Menu – Middle Eastern Foodie Supper
A selection of Meze (most of which I can make in advance)
———————————————————————————
Lamb Tagine
Baked Sea Bass Chermoula
Saffron Rice
Jewelled Cous Cous
Salad
———————————————————————————-
Fresh Fruit
Middle Eastern Pastries and Coffee
Now just a little about Action against Hunger and how you can help by setting up your own foodie supper party or dinner party. If you went to Taste London, you may have seen the Action against Hunger pop-up restaurant or stand. Alongside getting some of the top chefs in the country to donate their time and produce, Action against Hunger is also hoping we will all do the same. They’ve provided all the resource needed for people like you and I to set up our own fund-raising foodie supper parties here.
I know I’m not going to make the timing that they were hoping for because I didn’t find out about this till just before Taste London…but I am working on the basis that if I get started now then it doesn’t really matter. The aim is to have a fun foodie supper party and raise some money at the same time!
