Apart from a fabulous night at the ballet, I’ve been a bit deprived of culture lately. So, I’m thrilled to be going to a Midsummer Night’s Dream at the the New Diorama Theatre, especially as I know a little about the nineteen year old Producer/Director.
Natalie York is someone who has stunned me with her drive, talent and passion for theatre and opera. She’s spent the last year working alongside some amazing professional theatre and opera companies and taking on serious production responsibilities with them (Picnic Basket Productions: Director, New Sussex Opera: Assistant Director). Recently she was offered the opportunity to run a production at the New Diorama as part of the Camden Fringe Festival.
Pell Mell Theatre Company is a new company of young professional actors and the production promises a new perspective on the play ‘concentrating on vibrant, kinetic performances for audiences from the infantile to the elderly and everybody in-between’. That has me slightly concerned and very curious!
To quote Natalie a little more:-
‘In a play where the magical and the mundane collide to such dramatic effect, our aim more than anything is to expose the humanity of the gods of fairyland and reveal the divine in a weaver or a bellows-mender.’
