London-Unattached’s Last Minute Shopping Guide
Did you know there are just 12 shopping days left till Christmas? Some of us haven’t bought ANYTHING yet.
For the next 12 days I am going to post a quick review on something you might like to get as a last minute Christmas Present. A wishlist if you like. But also a summary of some of the great things I’ve discoved during a year of going to food shows and seeing the best in class food goods around!
I was sent a fabulous set of nuts and olives by Olives et Al. They are a Dorset based food producer who make dressings, dips and spreads, preserve olives and kiln roast a range of nuts and package everything beautifully in little jars.
Now, apart from the quality of their products, the fact that most of them are a lot healthier than giving chocolate, and the loveliness of the packaging, these goodies are produced in the UK. That in my view is really is something to shout about – buying your nice foodie things from the UK where possible means that you are supporting British jobs as well as doing things that will in the long term reduce our carbon footprint.
They are part of a group of Dorset food producers that you may already have come across…all very high quality and all worthy of a place in any Food Lover’s larder. In alphabetical order they are; Clipper Teas, Denhay Farm, Dorset Cereals, Hall & Woodhouse and Olives Et Al, and if a hamper of produce was put together from the Dorset Famous Five it would represent some of Dorset’s best loved, award–winning food and drink.
Olives et Al have a great philosophy. On the side of the packaging for my nuts and olives is a little motto that says ‘Eat more and live very happily’. That ‘Mediterranean Sunshine’ feeling is extended through all of their product packaging so you know that whatever you choose as a present is going to give that feel-good factor to the recipient. And, with prices starting at around £8 you can buy really good quality food gifts without breaking the bank, although they DO have some fabulous foodie hampers too!
You can order direct from from them, or look out for them in any quality Deli or stockist of artisan foods.
