Detox, Weightloss, Get Fit and other New Year Resolutions.
Are you like me? Full of good intent for the New Year? Although this blog isn’t entirely about food, it does tend to gravitate that way…probably due to the interests of the author! And the result is a 2kg weight gain by me in December. I’m still 5kg less than I was when I first started blogging, but I’m trying to lose the same again so that my ‘old’ clothes fit again for the summer.
So – my resolutions are as follows
- Blog to have less focus on food! It’s meant to be lifestyle…sad that seems to be eating out and cooking for me
- ‘Daily’ gym unless there’s a real reason why not
- Study (finally) tidied and de-cluttered
- Kitchen redecorated and new worktop and lighting installed
- Drop a dress size (that way everything will fit again!)
The ‘Drop a Dress size’ is what this particular post is focussed on. I am planning to use three things to help me achieve that resolution.
Firstly, I’m doing a very gentle detox. My diet is largely about what suits me and will be punctuated by lunches and dinners where I try to choose healthy food. Here’s the diet strategy. Breakfast – Total Greek Yoghurt with a teaspoon of honey OR porridge made with semi skimmed milk and a teaspoon of honey. Lunch – Home Made ‘healthy’ soup. Supper – at least 4 meals a week to be healthy. For me that means fish, chicken or venison served with steamed vegetables and no potatoes, or something vegetarian and healthy, a piece of fruit and no more than one glass of red wine! Replace coffee in the afternoon and evening with herbal teas (I particularly like twining lemon with ginger).
My second secret weapon is a resolution in its own right. I need to get to the gym at least four times a week. To do that, I need to ‘think’ that I have to go every day. And when I am there I am aiming to alternate between 50-60 minutes of aerobic exercise and 30 minutes of aerobic exercise with 15-20 minutes of weights and powerplate.
My third weapon is something that is quite new to me. I’ve got a tiny spray which is meant to work as an appetite suppressant called FULLfast that was sent to me to review. I’ve only just started using it, so I can’t confirm whether it works or not…but it tastes very pleasant and it’s very conveniently packaged up to be handbag sized. I know for me one of the challenges I have with increasing my gym visits is that I tend to come home and feel hungry. And I then justify a bit of chocolate (alright a LOT of chocolate) on the basis I’ve just done an hour of exercise. So, this may just work for me.
I’m pleased to say that the UK distributors have sent one for me to giveaway too. They retail at £23.95 for a month supply, so this is a nice giveaway for someone who wants a bit of a hand to help with their new year’s resolution. If you’d like the chance to win, please hop over to the giveaway section here where you can enter (and don’t forget there’s a handy blender up for grabs too!)

You sound exactly like me Fiona! I can’t go to the gym because of where I live, it just isn’t practical, but have a new excercise DVD and a similar resolution! No up for spraying away my hunger pangs, I am drinking more water instead. It’s so hard for food bloggers to diet and the challenges don’t help, but I am determined as I also want to drop a dress size.
