The Rooftop Bubble Bar – First Ever Live Bubble Exhibition:
Brixton used to be a part of London best avoided. Edgy, home of the Acre Lane Riots in 1981 and somewhere that no sensible nice girl would go by herself. Well, of course you have to make up your own mind if I am a) sensible and b) nice anyway. Whatever your thoughts on that, it’s now changed a lot and there are some great places to eat in Brixton Market so it has become something of a hip place to be.
In any case, I like bubbles (both the sort that come in bottles with corks and the sort you make from washing up liquid). So, I was keen to try the Pop-up Bubble Bar at the Brixton Clubhouse.
I went along at the invitation of Grand Marnier’s press office and enjoyed two lovely cocktails – the first a kind of Elderflower and Grand Marnier Fizz called ‘Grand Esprit’ and the second a Gingery Grand Marnier mix. Both served in lovely bubbly red things. Not glasses…these came with a straw and a little glowing icecube inside. So as the sun set over Brixton, there were a hundred little red bubbles!
But the highlight of the event for me at least was watching SamSam Sam the bubbleologist.
We watched him create fantastic dome sculptures out of bubbles
And fill them with smoke…
And even trap people inside bubbles!
It’s a lovely place to sit and have a cocktail or two, watching the sun set over London.
The bubble bar is only there for a month, so get yourself along and you might catch SamSam in action!
