Cocktails and Alcoholic Popcorn at Quaglino’s Hutch Club:
Summer in the City sounds like it is going to be quite a glam affair – especially if you make your way over to Quaglino’s in Mayfair. Quaglino’s Hutch Club will be running from 1st June to 31st August – a glamorous cocktail and jazz club that aims to recreate the original spirit of Quaglino’s, when it first opened in 1929.
There’s an Art Deco inspired Martini Bar, a private Drinking Den and London’s first boutique alcoholic Popcorn bar. And a full programme of live music including the Basin Street Brawlers, Benoit Viellefon and his Hot Club and the Dixie Ticklers.
The Hutch Club is named after Leslie Hutchinson, one of the most popular cabaret entertainers of the twentieth century. He was a somewhat flamboyant character, arriving at nightclubs dressed to nines with a white piano strapped to his car. Originally from Granada, he moved to New York to train as a Doctor, but quickly found a place for himself in the jazz bars and clubs of the City.
In keeping with Hutch’s refined tastes, today’s visitors to Quaglino’s Hutch Club will be able to enjoy a delicious selection of alcohol-infused small plates: Salmon Tartar with Vodka Jelly & Herring Roe; Oyster & Gin Soup with Lime & Coriander; Duck Breast with Cognac, Cherry & Chilli and Smoked Chocolate Ice Cream with Whisky Cream & Mandarin Popcorn. And of course cocktails made with some of the most exclusive drinks brands including Courvoisier, The Macallan, and Elit Stolichnaya Vodka. I’m really looking forward to visiting!
