Limbo at Wonderground – Join in the fun just like Madonna:
The South Bank is one of my favourite places in London. Home to galleries, theatres, concert halls and cinemas, the space is also full of some really creative events.
I’d heard about London Wonderground but didn’t go last year, when it first appeared on the Southbank, so I was really rather thrilled to be invited to the launch of LIMBO, which is the headline act. And of course, we had to stop off in Wonderground first.
Now, an admission, these are NOT my photos. Some have been kindly given to me by Simon from By-Invitation while others are press shots. Inside the main theatre area photography during the show is forbidden – quite understandable given that many of the acts involve balancing, heights and fire!
The Wonderground area is a grown-up fair. There are performers of all sorts
And, for the fearless – a rather high ride that looks considerably more exciting than the London Eye (yes I have been on the Eye, yes it is fun, no it isn’t exciting – the pods move round very slowly so essentially you get wonderful views over London rather than a fairground experience).
I was apprehensive about LIMBO. In my head it was the sort of thing that could be dreadful. BUT, from the moment it started we were glued to our seats! It was truly fabulous, so hardly suprising that Madonna (yes *the* Madonna) went to see the show a few weeks later. I’m not going to tell you everything about what we saw because that wouldn’t be fair. Go along yourself and I defy you not to be mesmerised.
Now if you’d like to join us all and see the Wonderground show for yourself, Limbo is running until 29 September and tickets cost from £10. Whats more, the show area will expand in the next few weeks when the Udderbelly cow moves to Edinburgh, so there will be even more to see!
