hungryhouse Review of Top Takeaways.
Guest post by Sarah James:
I was asked to rise to the challenge to prove that a take-away can be a lovely dining experience as opposed to a fall back option when you don’t have time to cook/have gone past the stage where that’s even possible!
Searching the site for highly rated restaurants in my area was easy; they could be found both in order of ranking by ‘Top Takeaway’ or by cuisine. There was certainly a lot of choice in my area; although the top ones were all kebab/pizza/fish and chips, and with a holiday 5 weeks away I’m trying to eat healthily. So we opted for Thai instead, and chose Anna’s as a place we’d passed, but had never eaten at.
The selection process was very easy and we received emails accepting the booking and confirming that the order had been accepted by the restaurant. We were given an estimated delivery time, and our expectations were exceeded, with the food arriving 10 minutes earlier.
So how was the food? We received the biggest bag of complimentary prawn crackers that I have ever seen – enough for about 6 people! Always a bonus whilst the rest is being unpacked!
I chose Hoi Ob to start, mussels in a hot and sour sauce. These were delicious. My partner chose chicken satay which was less successful, the chicken was bland and there wasn’t any sauce. This is the disadvantage of home delivery; in the restaurant we’d have been able to ask for it, home delivery means that forgotten items never appear.
I had Ped ma karm for a main; a stir fried duck dish which was again lovely. My partner had a Massaman curry which was pronounced very nice. Our side order of rice was plentiful.
We made efforts to present the food nicely and pretend we were out for a meal!
Overall, the ordering was easy, the speed of service great, and it was all very convenient. We know where to look next time we fancy a lovely meal without the dirty saucepans afterwards! Many thanks to hungryhouse for this opportunity to use their site.
