New Contactless Payment for Transport for London – Don’t get charged twice!
While personally I welcome anything that helps me travel more easily, the introduction of contactless payment for TFL journeys via your credit card raises a whole new set of challenges. If, like me, you are used to keeping your credit card and Oyster card in your wallet and just touching on the yellow reader at the ticket barrier, you could get billed twice! Or, just as annoyingly, experience card clash with the reader rejecting BOTH cards.
Right now it’s only on bus journeys that this might happen, but later in the year TFL will be introducing contactless cards across the rail and underground network. And then, you’ll really need a Card Guard. Each Card Guard RFID blocking card sits neatly in front of your payment card, preventing the contactless technology from reading that specific card. The patented technology ensures only that payment card is disabled leaving your Oyster card totally unaffected. So you’ll be able to carry on swiping your entire wallet at the ticket barrier safe in the knowledge that only your Oyster card is being charged
You can find out more about the new Card Guard and a host of other useful travel accessories at the Go Travel website. And if you’d like to try for yourself, the lovely people at Go Travel have offered me a Card Guard together with an Oyster card pre-loaded with £50 of travel to give away!
