Review of La Maison du Chocolat Bouchées
Guest feature by Sarah James:
Autumn seems to have come early this year with the coldest August since 1993. I like autumn (just not when it starts in August!); I like the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, foraging for blackberries, wearing boots! But as the season changes there is a yearning for something comforting to eat, and chocolate that might not seem appealing in hot weather suddenly hits the spot.
La Maison du Chocolat asked me to sample some of their new autumn bouchées. Available in six sumptuous flavours, the individual chocolate pieces are deliciously tasty. Containing roasted almonds, candied fruits and chocolate ganache, the bouchées are a sophisticated treat for one. In the interests of good market research (if not in the interest of my hips) I tried 3 of the 6.
Be warned, these are very very rich – about a quarter of each bouchée was enough at any one time! The cut one pictured above is the Bouchée Rocher Dark Chocolate Almond and nut dark chocolate praline with roasted almonds. I loved the dark chocolate and almonds together, absolute heaven.
My favourite though was Bouchée Mendiant Dark Chocolate; a dark chocolate bar with full round notes with a mélange of candied fruits and nuts. This one only took 2 sittings to polish off!
La Maison du Chocolat is also producing a variety of Halloween themed chocolates which look very tempting for young and old alike!
