Valentine Ideas to Win Hearts:
Are you looking for ideas for a special Valentine’s Gift? Here are a few suggestions to help you win hearts. All based around the classics, but with just a bit of a twist to make your present special.
While a single red rose is romantic and pretty, very few of us have any sensible way of putting it on show. In any case, around Valentine’s Day, the cost of just one red rose goes sky high. Instead, why not order a stunning mixed bouquet. A few red roses scattered in a beautiful design is just that little bit different. And, although it might cost you a little bit more than a single rose, something like this Goddess bouquet from Appleyard London Flowers is still under £50.
That should leave you enough change to customise your gift. Chocolates are always good and I particularly love fine Belgian chocolates like this pretty heart shaped box from Godiva. Available in two different sizes, I’d suggest buying the larger box if you are hoping to share!
Champagne is another Valentine’s classic. All the Perrier Jouët champagnes come in stylish bottles, ranging from the classic Grand Brut NV Champagne, an easy to drink, slightly fruity champagne that is perfect for a special occasion through to the Belle Epoque cuvees with their stylish beautiful and iconic Emile Gallé anemone design bottles. It all depends on how much of an occasion you want to make of Valentine’s day…and perhaps on whether you want to drink your champagne immediately (with a few chocolates of course).
You might want to make your Valentine’s gift even more special with a pair of these beautiful celebratory champagne flutes from Waterford Crystal. These are a new release from Waterford and come in four stunning designs – True Love with a pair of intertwined hearts, Wedding Vows (two rings), Happiness (a butterfly) and Forever (pictured). If you want to give a Valentine’s gift that will last, a pair of glasses would work really well with a bottle of champagne for a romantic toast on the evening.
If your loved one isn’t a Champagne drinker, how about a bottle of red wine instead? Set the table for a perfect Valentine’s steak dinner and relax with this warm, spicy bottle of Kumala Shiraz Reserve. If you don’t fancy cooking, this is a wine that will work perfectly with chocolate too…
For any whisky loving gentleman (or woman), this stunning presentation bottle of Chivas Regal 12yr old would make a perfect Valentine’s gift.
‘The blend for grown-ups, for people who have made their rites of passage and are ready to enjoy their success. Sweet, but not cloying. Buxom, but not overblown.’
Paul Pacult in Whisky Magazine April 2000
For me, Chivas Regal is a blend that is easy to drink and should suit most palates. Having learnt rather more about whisky blending at an event with Chivas at Bam Bou, I can recommend this bottle in its funky steam-punk influenced tin. And, just in case you haven’t got the message I rather like whisky with chocolate too.
Whether or not there’s a special someone in your life, likely to send you some of those wonderful Godiva chocolates, I’ve got a little treat for four London-Unattached readers. Godiva have sent me samples of some of their chocolates, all wrapped up in cellophane and tied with a pretty red ribbon. And, I’m giving them away to four of you. You’ll have to be quick of course, if you want them in time for Valentine’s Day. But, all you need to do is follow the rafflecopter through and keep your fingers crossed!
