Wines from Down Under – New Zealand Cellar Launch:
While I think I have an idea about French wine regions and I’m gradually building my knowledge of Spanish and Italian wines by travelling there, getting some understand of wines from a Country I’ve never visited is a lot harder. Yet, I know I enjoy New Zealand wines. I’ve been to a few tastings before, usually hosted at Providores. I happily pick up bottles of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir and occasionally indulge in a bottle of Cloudy Bay or a Deutz sparkling wine. I suspect like most people I go by in-store recommendations, once in a while remembering a winery and vintage I particularly like. Now, there’s a great website, New Zealand Cellar, where you can learn more about wines from New Zealand and check out some great UK based events
If you are anything like me and you’d like to know more about New Zealand wines then this events, hosted at New Zealand House, will be of interest.
On Thursday 16th April: Cameron Douglas, New Zealand’s first and only Master Sommelier hosts a launch party with The New Zealand Cellar.
The launch of the ‘Summer Case’ (12 bottles from the Family of 12 group in New Zealand) is a ticketed tasting session in the exquisite New Zealand House. Cameron will introduce each of the 12 wines, and guests will then be invited to enjoy each and discuss with the vineyard’s representatives to learn more. The ‘Summer Case’ will be available to buy on the night also.
This is a ticketed event for 60 guests and tickets are £40 per person, including samples of each wine, and nibbles courtesy of Neals Yard Cheese.
This is a perfect opportunity to garner knowledge on the health of the NZ wine industry and test your tasting against some of the best wines in the country.
