Art15 at Olympia:
“there is particular pleasure in pushing at open doors and in my experience ace chefs and restaurateurs are always keen to be allied to art and also engage with an international audience alive to all the senses”
Fay Maschler for Absolute Taste at Art15.
What could be better than combining art and food? This year’s Art15 is taking place at Olympia from 21-23 May. With 150 galleries from 40 countries exhibiting painting, sculpture, photography and prints with prices from £500-£1m there’s plenty to chose from.
But there’s more. For the second successive year, London Evening Standard Restaurant Food Critic, Fay Maschler, has assembled some of London’s best restaurants to cook at the Fair. On Thursday 21st May, London’s leading Indian restaurant Gymkhana is in residence, on Friday 22nd May, it is Shoreditch’s The Clove Club and on Saturday 23rd May, The Colony Grill Room at The Beaumont.
The award-winning catering company Absolute Taste headed by dynamic Lyndy Redding will be liaising with the chefs to prepare the menus for Food 4 Art and ensure that their vision is adhered to. Lyndy said
“ We are all very excited to work with these amazing chefs and their restaurants and feel very honoured to be part of their world for a short time…The whole process is a journey with each of them and all slightly different which is one of the things we love about doing what we do. We become great friends along the way and always keep in touch in the future. ”
What a fabulous idea! I’ve already dined at Gymkhana so I can thoroughly recommend Thursday’s dining. And, the Colony Grill Room is actually the latest offering from Chris Corbin and Jeremy King of the Wolseley, the Colbert, Brasserie Zedel and the Delauney – so, I’m sure it will be impeccable.
