Boulangerie Francois – Roof Terrace Bar at Harvey Nichols
Is there anything better than a long cool refreshing cocktail, outdoors after a stressful and hectic day in the office or an equally stressful day shopping in the West End? I don’t believe so! Thankfully, Harvey Nichols new pop up bar has come to our rescue!
Grey Goose Boulangerie Francois Terrase is on the glorious fifth floor of Harvey Nichols and has the undeniable benefit of outdoor drinking, (with roof awnings should the weather revert to the stereo typical English summer).
The bar is sponsored by Grey Goose (is there a better vodka?) and the ambience is undeniably, relaxed and chilled, in a sophisticated way. The bar aims to transport you to a little corner of the South of France, and it does that in bucket loads. Décor is white and French blue and they have used a “chevron” design (perhaps a play on the classic French car Citroen car emblem), as the overriding, design pattern.
Cocktails are the order of the day, and there are four unique cocktails, (all obviously made with Grey Goose) on offer. Grey Goose Le Miel Amer (Grey Goose Orange, Grapefuit, Blossom Honey served on the rocks), Grey Goose Le Jardin Vert (Grey Goose La Poire, Fresh Lime, Apple Juice, and Orgeat Syrup), Grey Goose Montparnasse (Grey Goose Citroen, Peach, Lemon & Soda). However, my favourite is the Grey Goose “Le Fizz”, (Grey Goose Vodka, St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, Fresh Lime, served with Soda) , its elegant, fresh and refreshing. Don’t forget though that it does have vodka, and vodka does have a habit of creeping up and boxing your ears when you are least aware!
Also available is the Martini Flight, which is a selection of 4 miniature Martini Cocktails (Dry Martini, Provencal Martini, Anjou Martini, Martini Aromatique) which come with a petit four and makes them perfect sharing material. These are beautifully present and also taste divine.
The food is a selection of delicious , small, perfectly formed petit fours, canapes and little pies on offer, perfect finger food to keep you a little more sober while sipping your drinks.
So the perfect environment, great drinks and some very tasty nibbles, all with the sun beating down on you. Being wafted from Knightsbridge to the South of France (not via Luton Airport) does not come much better than this. Just bring your mirror shades, for perfect people watching.
The Grey Goose Cocktails are available at the Pop Up Bar, open until Sept 6, 2015.
