Lima Floral Peruvian Cuisine and Conservation:
Peruvian cuisine is rated as one of the world’s finest by no less than Ferran Adria, the most innovative chef of the last 40 years, so I was excited to be invited to an exclusive tasting at Virgilio Martinez’s Lima Floral in Covent Garden, to celebrate all things Peru. We were also there to mark Lima’s brand new partnership with crees – a non-for-profit organisation working for a sustainable future in the Peruvian Amazon.
We kicked off with ‘several’ refreshing Pisco sours which put us in the mood to hear about the amazing work crees does in the rainforest working in partnership with the locals to protect the forest and working on projects such as ecotourism and Eco-forestry.
After a few delicious nibbles (a great sea bass ceviche and beef empanadas) we got to try a brand new dish that Lima Floral has created for its menu inspired by the Peruvian Amazon called Paiche Camu Camu that features seared paiche, a delicious native fish. 25% of each dish sold will be donated towards the crees Foundation. The fish was meaty and served in a delicious oil based sauce.
Lima Floral is a must-eat venue if you are interested in exploring Peruvian food at a price that won’t break the bank so why not give it a go and support the rainforest at the same time.
