Get Fruity Review and Giveaway:
I’ve been reviewing some wonderful fruity health bars. It might seem a little premature, given the likely excesses of Christmas later this week, but it’s good to be prepared for the inevitable ‘healthy eating’ pledge I’ll make on New Year’s Eve! I have to admit, I always intend to make this kind of thing myself – and never quite get round to it. I know that oat based energy bars are great for stopping hunger pangs between meals – and I like the nutty taste of oatmeal anyway. But, a lot of the bars you can buy in the supermarket have added sugar and are not quite the healthy option you might imaging. These are! Gluten free, vegan friendly and part of your five a day – what better way for a healthy start to 2016!
Not so the ‘Get Fruity’ range. All the sweetness comes from fruit juice and they are made with virgin coconut oil and where necessary a little extra colour is added with natural vegetable colouring (beetroot, carrot etc). Here’s just one example – the apricot, orange and ginger bar ingredients:
Gluten Free oats 42%, Fruit and Juice Blend 39% (Apricots 25%, Orange Juice concentrate 8%, White Grape Juice Concentrate, Apple Juice concentrate, Pear Juice Concentrate), Virgin Coconut Oil 10%, Rice Starch, Colour: Carotenes, Natural Flavourings: Natural Ginger 0.01%
The background to Get Fruity is that founder Davina Whiteoak started by making these bars for her own kids. She explains
When I became a mum myself, I like all parents, wanted the best for my children and this means making sure what they eat. provides them with the healthy energy needed to get them through their active days. I created Get Fruity as a healthy, tasting and 100% natural ‘on the go’ treat for kids and adults
Of course none of this would work if the bars didn’t taste good too. But, they are truly delicious – each one really does taste of the fruit it is supposed to contain. My favourite – the moist mixed berry with rich cranberry, blackcurrent, blackberry and grape. Though it WAS very hard to choose from the three fabulous flavours (the final option is Scrumptious Strawberry)
So that you don’t have to choose, the lovely people at Get Fruity have offered me 4 prizes – and each winner will get 6 pack of each of the three flavours. Thats 18 bars each – enough to develop a bit of a Get Fruity habit! Each pack is worth £4.20, so each prize is worth £12.60 – not a bad way to start the new year after the excesses of Christmas!
