Galician Beer and Alt Rock Music in London:
On Friday the 6th of November Estrella Galicia beer hosted a music event at the Oval space in London. Headliners The Pains of Being Pure at Heart were supported by The Pastels, and Kid Wave.
Estrella Galicia is Spain’s largest independent brewery. It was founded in 1906 in the Galician city of La Coruña, North West Spain. The brewery has remained in the hands of the family ever since, with the founder’s great grandson currently residing as company president. Since it began exporting outside of Galicia seven years ago, it has risen in popularity to become the country’s fourth largest beer. If you are looking to try for yourself you’ll find that Estrella Galicia is identifiable in bars by its eye catching ceramic fonts, each been hand crafted in the traditional Galician pottery house of Sagadelos. The brewery has been exporting to the UK since 2012. To date its offering in the UK includes Estrella Galicia 4.7% Premium lager both in bottle and on draught, 1906 Reserva Especial 6.5% and newly launched 1906 Black Coupage 7.2%.
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart were formed in 2007, and have quietly been pumping out their own brand of indie-pop shoegaze to a loyal fanbase. If you happen to Like Belle and Sebastian, then they are probably right up your street.
The Pastels go back even further, with their original formation occuring in 1981. Alt rock is their genre but they are broad in their interpretation of it.
Estrella Galicia has run acclaimed Son Estrella Galicia gigs across Spain and is eager to make its debut in London. The Spanish beer manufacturer discovers and works with new music artists to put on major events for their consumers to enjoy and really be part of the brand. Oval Space has become synonymous with the capital’s most forward-thinking and an exciting programme of music events. Brand Manager for Estrella Galicia UK, Lindsay Castling, commented:
We are thrilled that Son Estrella Galicia is coming to London for the first time. Music is key for Estrella Galicia and we are delighted to put on these events for our consumers.
It sounds pretty good to us, no pun intended. We are looking forward to more Son Estrella gigs over the coming months.
