The Ultimate Easter Egg – Hotel Chocolat Ostrich Egg:
The Ostrich Egg from Hotel Chocolat is one of those iconic creations that has come to mean Easter to me. Weighing in at over a kilo, it is the same size as a REAL ostrich egg. I don’t get one EVERY year, it seems like the height of indulgence. But, obviously when I do, I love the luxury of such a grand egg!
It’s made up of two half-shells – one in dark chocolate and one in milk and filled with 27 Hotel Chocolate classics – pralines, caramels and more.
Just in case you think all that chocolate might get a bit boring, the shell gets a rocky look and the chocolate a wonderful texture by the addition of feuilletine – crispy wafer-flakes.
It arrives beautifully packaged in the kind of hat-box that would work for a Philip Treacy Royal Ascot special. Tied with a black grosgrain ribbon, it makes the perfect Easter gift!
And, I’ve got one to give away to a lucky London-Unattached reader, worth £75! You’ll find the rafflecopter at the bottom of this feature. Easter is early this year, so DO check back on the 19th March – we’ll need to get the egg sent out on 20th to be sure of delivery in time for the break
Meanwhile, I’m tackling a slightly smaller offering from Hotel Chocolat – the £35 Easter Collection. I particularly like this gift box, full of quirky treats. I’ve already eaten three ‘hop’ bunnies – delicious Hotel Chocolat 40% milk chocolate and I’m waiting for the right occasion to enjoy the chicks, made of 70% dark chocolate. The salted caramel puddles are an old favourite of mine that I buy every time I go into a Hotel Chocolat shop and there’s a box of 6 chocolates, a pack of egg truffles ‘eggs on parade’ and a bag of milk egglets as well as the infamous egg on toast. Now, I don’t have kids but I think this would be a great solution for those end of term teacher gifts or to share around a large family.
There are plenty of other gifts for Easter on offer at Hotel Chocolat. Why not pop over to their website and take a look.
