A Night in London with FG Properties
I love to go on city breaks and for the last few years rather than booking a hotel I prefer to rent an apartment for a few days. I like the independence and flexibility it affords me. I love being able to immerse myself in a locality but the best thing is that there are no perky young staff asking me if I’m enjoying my stay. I’ve worked in 5 star hotels. I know they don’t mean it! I’ve used a number of short term flat rental properties in the past but never FG Properties. They specialise in Paris where Fiona had stayed in one of their apartments which she loved (see her review) but have now extended their offer to London and they offered me the opportunity to review their service and to stay in one of their apartments. I chose a newly renovated two bedroom flat within walking distance of Earl’s Court and West Brompton tubes giving great access to both the West End and West London. The apartment was managed very effectively by a company called City Relay who emailed me a code to enter the property using a very straightforward but nifty Yale digital code lock. The flat itself was great. Very cool, neutral and modern with lots of grey and white. There were two good size bedrooms with comfy beds and pillows, one with an en suite and one with an adjoining bathroom with showers that meant business. The kitchen/sitting room was a suprisingly large space with a sofa bed so the flat would comfortably sleep six. The kitchen had everything you might need including a very welcoming bottle of red wine. The sitting room had a decently sized flatscreen and there was good wifi throughout. I chose not to eat in as I knew the area. The Atlas pub which is around the corner has a very decent food offer but I managed to sneak a table at the only Michelin starred pub in London The Harwood Arms where I had a terrific dinner. I was very impressed with the quality of the flat and the service from FG Property and their partners. Next stop Paris!
