The Hispaniola transformed to The Good Ship Benefit!
The Hispaniola is moored on Victoria Embankment and has been used as a restaurant/bar for many years. It has undergone an amazing transformation by the San Franciscan beauty company Benefit. It’s now a pink floating palace, combining beauty, food, drinks, and tons of glamour. We went aboard after a rain shower and were lucky enough to see the sun break through the clouds so that we could sit on the upper deck and enjoy our cocktail. With amazing views of the Thames, this was rather lovely, although the gentle rocking of the boat did leave us feeling a little tipsy!
This is called the hoola deck for good reason, and Jordan showed us how it should be done!
We were then whisked downstairs to the brow bar and both given a mini make-over and lots of great advice about make-up techniques, which left us feeling rather pampered. There were several ladies having their eye brows waxed and tamed before returning to the cocktail bar!
We were shown the Spy Gal bar, which wasn’t open the evening we were there; we loved this space and the idea of the Spy Gal Martinis! It was like a return to the set of the Avengers; I could just imagine a swinging sixties dolly bird in here!
We then sat down to eat in the Lastitude Upper Deck Restaurant. The food here is California themed, and we enjoyed a goats cheese and beetroot salad and asparagus for our starters. Both of these were beautifully presented and we felt *fairly* virtuous in our choices!
My companion opted for the crab mornay with frites, which I have to say looked amazing, whilst I went for sea bass. This was perfectly cooked with the flakes of fish just falling away into the rich sauce.
The Good Ship Benefit is also open for brunch and afternoon tea until the end of August. So if you fancy a cocktail, food, and some pampering, this has to be the place to come!
Lunch is served daily between 12pm and 3pm, Afternoon Tea between 3pm and 6pm and Dinner between 6pm and 10pm.
