A cup of Hampstead Chai:
It wasn’t until I had to review an Indian restaurant one lunchtime, the day after a heavy wine tasting dinner, that I discovered the wonder of chai. I must have looked rather pale when I arrived because the helpful front of house welcomed me with ‘would you like a beer, a glass of wine – or perhaps a cup of chai?’ giving me that knowing look. Never has a warm, sweet, spice infused tea been so welcomed. And, by the time I’d finished I really did feel ready to face the world (or at least to eat lunch!)
So, when the lovely people from Hampstead Tea contacted me to tell me about their new range of chai blends, I was more than happy to accept the offer to review. I’ve been drinking the Karma Chai and the Energy Chai (Life is still unopened) and am really enjoying the fragrant, refreshing and spicy drinks. Whether it is simply the power of suggestion or not, I really don’t mind. I genuinely feel better after a cup of Energy Chai in the morning. And, I’ve been going through a particularly stressful period recently – Karma Chai does seem to help calm me down.
Hampstead Tea is all sourced from the worlds first Bio-Dynamic, Demeter certified tea plantation, The Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, India. So, you are not going to be drinking anything that has been treated with nasty pesticides. And Hampstead Tea pay a premium for their tea direct to the estate to ensure all the workers living on the plantation have a good quality of life.
I’m pleased that Hampstead tea have offered me one each of the Chai range as a prize for a lucky London-Unattached reader.
