On Blackheath Preview:
This weekend sees the return for the third year of the wonderful On Blackheath. A wonderful mixture of music – live and DJ sets, food, and entertainment for the kids. It’s a great day or weekend out. Even better, it doesn’t involve camping in the mud!
This year sees the great Don Letts return to the turntables – we danced away to his set last time as his selection was just fabulous! Craig Charles, Jazzie B, and Neneh Cherry are also hitting the turntables.
This year I’m really excited by the live music line-up. Tonight it’s Primal Scream and Hot Chip, and tomorrow it’s James and Belle and Sebastian headlining. But some of the earlier in the day acts are fabulous too; Roisin Murphy formerly of Moloko, Edwyn Collins, Saint Etienne, and Squeeze are also on my ‘must see’ list. There’s also the chance to catch some ‘up and coming’ acts, which always gives the chance of a boast, “I saw them at On Blackheath in 2016, you know!”
This festival is also about the food. Theo Randall is hosting a chef’s banquet. At £30 per head including 2 glasses of wine, this is a bargain! There are also cookery demonstrations and a cookery school.
There are still a few tickets left. Day tickets are £37.80 for adults. h
See you later!
