Bell Square London is Back!
Bell Square is an exciting outdoor arts space in the heart of Hounslow, launched in 2014. It’s a place where anyone and everyone can come to see some of the best outdoor performers in the world, for free. Featuring anything from circus to dance to acrobats, the shows aim to delight and inspire people whether they’re 4 or 84.
Launched in 2014, this is the fourth year of free events in Bell Square. On non-event days, Bell Square is home to the weekly market, which stretches down to the High Street and is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
Situated at the end of Hounslow High Street, it’s a permanent outdoor space. A large square, with seating and standing space, there are performances every other Saturday.
I am very excited to be covering a host of theatrical events in Bell Square in the coming months as it opens up the innovative outdoor arts space again. Residents and visitors to Hounslow can expect bigger and better high street action as the Bell Square London team presents 17 awe inspiring free, world class performances.
“Bell Square London is loved by the local community and brings visitors into the area to experience this cultural extravaganza against the backdrop of Hounslow’s busy town centre,” said Jan Lennox, Director, Bell Square. “As always, audiences can expect an eclectic mix of work this year from diverse organisations and nationalities. We look forward to welcoming our audience regulars back and many new faces too over the coming months.”
The world of outdoor arts is dynamic and Bell Square London, the-four-year-old purpose built outdoor space, is the only permanent venue in London with a regular programme of events. As well as theatre and modern dance there will be tango with fire, circus, hip hop, South Asian dance and even an urban astronaut performing this year. Companies from the UK mix in the programme with several UK-based companies along with several from France, Poland and Catalunya.
Key highlights include Candoco, winners of the UK Theatre Award’s ‘Achievement in Dance,’ who will perform You and I Know choreographed by the celebrated Arlene Philips, OBE. It’s a powerful story of how we fall in and out of love set against a backdrop of pop music.
In September Polish Teatr Biuro Podrozy will perform Silence a dramatic, beautiful outdoor theatre featuring stilts, fire and water and will be an evening performance.
