What is ‘The Face of New World’ and what does it mean to me?
A month or so ago I sent in a slightly tongue in cheek entry for ‘The Face of New World’. The role was to be the social media advocate for New World Appliances and to help represent them at industry events. I thought it would be fun to do and good for London-Unattached and my blogging ‘career’, so I entered. I didn’t expect to get through the first round though. My impression is that most appliance companies look to ‘Mummy Bloggers’ to represent them. Well, not all of us have kids, in fact a whopping 30% of the UK population live in single person households. And you know, we still use fridges, freezers, washing machines…and some of us even COOK!
I was amazed; I got through the first round and THEN discovered that New World was planning to make the final into a Facebook vote. And I wrote to them explaining my reservations about voting competitions. They did listen, but decided to go ahead anyway…and, I got through to the final round with my blog about the Kitchen and my mood board!
So here I am, I’d love to be ‘the Face of New World’. I see social media used VERY well to promote appliances (and here the lovely Yossi at appliances online comes to mind) and other products and services (think Caralot, Plantation Rugs, Dr Hauskana). I’d like to be there and I’d love to represent New World Appliances…I still have their cookery book on my shelf, a legacy from my Mum, who was given it by my Aunt when she first got married and really couldn’t cook.
Please take the time to vote for me by liking the New World Appliances Facebook Page (you’ll need to be logged into Facebook!) and then clicking on the voting tab on the left hand side. If I get the role I promise to do all I can to provide fun and rewarding Facebook and twitter events!!!!
