Hand Made Macarons with More:
I have a bit of a macaron fetish. And, right now I feel that I’m betraying my old love for Pierre Herme macarons – I don’t often get sent anything that I think can compare with the great master of flavour. While I don’t claim to be a macaron expert, I love the crisp, melting exterior shell giving way to a slightly gooey centre. And the ganache…the perfect way to add flavour. It needs to be sweet, but not sickly and carefully matched to the delicate almondy shell.
Ganache Macaron offered to send me some samples around Easter time – I tasted and loved them. I challenged myself to guess each of the flavours – Banana, Lime and Berry (which I had as blackcurrant – a fair substitute I think). Delicious – despite a journey across London by courier. These macarons are pretty, delicate and sensitively flavoured so that, in my case at least, I ended up eating most of my samples in one sitting. I had to find out more.
It turns out that Ganache Macaron are an artisan producer based in Hackney. In addition to pretty gift boxes and seasonal sampler boxes, they produce tiny favours with just two mini macarons per box – ideal for your summer wedding. They have some wonderful bespoke creations on their website too. You can order their macarons online for delivery in London zone 1 and 2 only or for collection from their shop. And they also supply to a number of high profile retailers like Maison Blanc, so if you want to taste and see if you agree with me, just pop along to your nearest Maison Blanc.
Finally, if like me you are hoping to pop into Taste London (19th -22nd June 2014) they will be there. Well worth treating yourself to a gift box if you are visiting, that way you won’t need to pay the cost of the courier to get them home.
