West End Theatre Made Simple:
Are you a theatre fan? I know I am, though one of the reasons I have a contributor to write most of my theatre reviews is because when I get to a show I usually end up FAR too engrossed in what is happening on stage to be able to actually write a sensible account of the show.
And, how on earth do you pick what to go and see? In my case I tend to use a lucky dip approach and look for shows where there’s a good deal. Pre-internet days I used to pop along to the Leicester Square Box Office (LSBO) and pick up whatever tickets were on offer that night. It was fun, if slightly random time. I seem to remember seeing some spectacular shows. Ducktastic for instance…which lasted just a month and which involved some very questionable jokes, a flock of real ducks (and resulted in some serious lobbying by PETA). But, in fairness we also saw some amazing shows at great prices.
The good thing is that you can do the same and more with the Leicester Square Box Office. You can now buy your discounted tickets online – and go along to see great shows like The Commitments with tickets starting at just £11. At that sort of price you could take a chance – but the online site means that you can actually sit and check out reviews for the shows on offer before you buy. Perfect.
I’m actually really tempted myself – I’ve spotted War Horse, which is closing soon but which I still haven’t seen. And Jersey Boys, also on my wish list. I really love the ease of booking online.
So what show will you be booking? Take a look at the Leicester Square Box Office and I’m sure you’ll be tempted
