The Perfect Patio – and your chance to win an amazing Nilfisk PowerGrip:
Mea Culpa, when Nilfisk asked if I’d like to review one of their power washers, I had no idea that you could do SO much with one. I am a power washing novice – and until recently I’ve had no need to learn. Earlier this year though, bored with my newly acquired fully decked back garden, I decided to see what was underneath . When I first moved in there was nowhere to grow plants. For me, that defeats the point of a garden – and when one or two of my friends rather pointedly mentioned how nice the garden next door was, I decided to re-plan the garden. With a limited budget and a rather large shed that I can’t currently afford to change, I could only really work with the front part of the garden. But, that was enough to give me space for two large raised beds and a step up to the original decking area.
Half removed, it was clear that the previous owners had hacked into the crazy paving underneath but not actually finished the job. They’d then decked over the top. The gardeners helping me to remodel the area started to try and remove the remaining paving, but it is very firmly bedded into concrete and, in many ways I rather like it. So, instead, with the aid of a large powerdrill, they trimmed the edge and created a little crazy paving path.
I have no idea what state the paving was in before the decking was laid, but, after five years under cover, the area was a mass of green and black algae. And the decking was covered in deposits from the friendly pigeons who live in the park and who feast on the cherry tree at the back of the garden.
So, my new Power Washer from Nilfisk arrived in the nick of time. Out in the garden on one of the few sunny afternoons this spring, I set to, cleaning up the stones. It works like a dream. There’s no scrubbing, nothing other than attaching one end of the hose to the tap and one end to the machine, then switching everything on.
I’d estimate my first session has reached about 50% of where I’d like to be. And, when I have a chance to repeat the exercise (a sunny day that I am actually at home), I’m sure I’ll end up with a pristine path and a squeaky clean deck.
But there’s so much more to the Nilfisk Powergrip. The magic handle lets you adjust the pressure as you are working. So, you can use the powerwasher to clean all sorts of things that might be damaged by the force of the full power-washer jet. I’m still learning – and didn’t get a chance to experiment much with the powergrip handle, but I DID try the full power hose on a corner of the shed. The water pressure is strong enough to remove paint! So, although my shed could do with cleaning, I’m waiting now till I have a chance to set up the powergrip handle again and spend a little more time in the garden.
In the meanwhile, Nilfisk have offered me one of their Powergrip Power Washers to give away to a lucky London-Unattached reader. You can read more about it on their own website here – there’s even a video to show the range of things you can do. The washers retail for around £200 so this is a very special giveaway.
For your chance to win, check out the Nilfisk Video and Website and then let me know in the comments below what would be the first thing you’d clean with the PowerGrip if you were lucky enough to win one. Follow the rafflecopter through and remember to use the hashtag #LoveYourStuffAgain whenever you share. Fingers crossed it will be YOU doing just that if you win.
