Tasteology at Taste of London:
I popped along last night to the opening of Taste of London 2016 and to the first screening of Tasteology. A fascinating series which explores the relationship with science, experience, culture and society, the event at Taste of London is interactive – you’ll find your taste buds challenged and your preconceptions shattered.
AEG, the main sponsors of Taste of London are hosting Tasteology in addition to their Take Taste Further event where you can learn to cook with Steve Brown from Daylesford Cookery School or with Jeremy Pang from the School of Wok . And at the AEG Taste Theatre you can watch everyone from Theo Randall to Alyn Williams doing their thing (all free of charge!)
There are plenty of other events to tantalise your tastebuds – Etihad Airways for example, explore the cuisine of Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Australia amongst others. Or, if you prefer, just pop on some virtual reality glasses and go on a tour of the Airbus 380! Celebrity Cruises have food and wine pairing events or you can just chill out on their lawn. And there’s live music on the bandstand for every session.
Of course, there are the restaurant show tents too. This year I made straight for Ametsa with Arzak Instruction where I tried some wonderful Paella, a Pork Brocheta and ‘The Big Truffle’ which looks like the savoury kind but is actually a light, melting chocolate dessert.
And, if you’ve never tried Pintxos yourself, you can get your chance at the Basque Country stand, where you can indulge in a whole selection of mouth-watering ‘Pintxos’, delicious ‘Txakoli’ and world famous Rioja Alavesa Wines.
There are plenty of other great places to go for food too – from The Cinnamon Club to Roka. I could have easily spent all day grazing! And, there are some excellent bars – though we did keep gravitating back to Chapel Down…
The good news is that I’ve got a pair of VIP tickets worth around £80 to give away from AEG. This giveaway is only going to be open till midday tomorrow because we obviously need to pick a winner quickly. You’ll be able to pick from tickets for Saturday (either 12-4pm or 5:30-9:30) or Sunday (12-5pm).
Just fill in the rafflecopter and keep your fingers crossed.
PLEASE NOTE – this giveaway will close at Midday on 17th and the winner will be drawn as soon as possible after that time!
Oh, and to answer the question you might just want to check out the Tasteology website or watch the trailer…
