Having your Meat and Eating it – Skinni Meat Range – Perfect Diet Meat for Carnivores:
While I do genuinely try to cut back the quantity of red meat I eat, becoming a vegetarian is probably not on the cards for me. I love my meat casseroles, bolognese sauces, chilli con carne, burgers and sausages. But, trying to lose weight on a red blooded carnivorous diet can be tricky.
I hadn’t heard of the Skinni range of foods until I was contacted by West Coast Foods, an online butcher, based in Prestwick, Ayrshire. They do also have a butcher’s shop there, which has been growing in success ever since it opened a few years ago. But, the online shop allows sasanachs like me to enjoy the finest Scottish meat delivered direct to my door.
West Coast foods use the finest local Scottish meat, prepared in house by their award winning master butchers, to create a whole range of products. The Skinni range is perfect for anyone like me trying to keep the calories down. As an example, their low-fat mince has just over 100 calories per 100g while their pork links (that’s sausages to you and me) are around 60 calories a piece.
I’m busy cooking with the products they sent me. I’ll be sharing recipes for skinni chilli con carne and spaghetti bolognese next. And I’m really enjoying the well flavoured, properly hung meat. My first recipe was for Chicken en Papillote – a lovely, easy low-calorie recipe for chicken breasts at around 260 calories per portion. In the meanwhile, if you’d like to try for yourself, why not pop over to their website – you can order their range online for next day delivery by DPD. It’s good value and all top quality.
And, if you are feeling lucky – you can enter our giveaway. West Coast Foods have offered a ‘Weekly Pack’ worth £34.99 for one London-Unattached reader. The winner will get mince, chicken fillets, slice, black pudding, pork and beef links, burgers and beef olives. Enough for a family of four to feast for a week – and all freezable if you happen to want to save some for later.
If you’d like to have a go, please pop over and check out the Skinni Range on the West Coast Foods site. Let me know which product you’d like to try first and what you’d use it for in the comments below. Then, just follow the rafflecopter through as normal.
