Latitude Festival – a stunning line-up of music, theatre and dance:
Latitude has a reputation for having one of the most eclectic lineups in the UK, and 2018 is no exception: Sadler’s Wells return to Henham Park on the Waterfront Stage, and Scottish Dance Theatre will present Fleur Darkin’s Velvet Petal. Whilst the first theatre shows to be announced for Latitude 2018 include a spectacular headline performance by an international sensation: Recirquel Contemporary Circus: Paris de Nuit will transport the audience to the roaring 30s.
Other highlights include Bryony Kimmings previewing her first solo show in 10 years, I’m A Phoenix, Bitch.
We are looking forward to our third year covering the boundary-pushing festival and hoping to cover shows like Middle Child: One Life Stand, an Edinburgh preview from the company behind All We Ever Wanted Was Everything – one of the standout shows from Latitude 2017.
And a fascinating sounding production from the Lyric, Hammersmith with an all-youth cast – How To Fail At Being Perfect
It is the year 2138. In London, only very busy people survive. These people don’t have time to raise their own children. But every now and then, they feel they need a child. Where do the people of London go when the need for a child arises? They go to Neverland Enterprise! C.EO. Peter Pan and his fierce assistant Tinkerbell train the perfect lease children for every occasion. This musical is a wise and witty look at adulthood and parenting through the eyes of forever children. How much should we all aim for perfection or would we be happier just saying you’.
There’s plenty more; comedy, literary discussions, debates, lake swimming, late night dancing in the woods, a big programme of activities for children, the famous Latitude pink sheep – and of course a stellar line-up of music from bands like The Killers and Alt-J and from singer-songwriter Solange. In fact Alt-J are regulars at Latitude
Alt-J said, “We are over the moon to be returning to Latitude for a fourth time. It’s a festival that’s nurtured us beyond any other, taking us from the Lake Stage to the 6music Stage and then to headlining in 2015. To do so again is a huge privilege. See you in Suffolk!”
And, there’s an excellent street food offering with Gyoza guys, Vegan Club Mexican, Fundi Wood Fired Pizzas and more.
