Gluten Free Artichokes in Fulham at Ardiciocca:

We are already big fans of Roberto Costa’s Macellaio RC restaurants – amazing Italian steak houses serving Fassona beef – a naturally lean soft meat from an Italian breed of cattle found in Piedmont.   Now RC have opened their fifth London restaurant,  Ardiciocca, in Fulham.

The name, artichoke in Genoese-Italian is a clue to the menu of hearty Italian dishes based on traditional recipes.  But the USP of Ardiciocca is that everything is gluten free.  Which means, if you happen to be dining with friends and just one of you is gluten free, this a no-hassle option where you can all enjoy the full menu.  Perfect!

For mains, a traditional Minestrone with pesto sits alongside Sardinian gnocchi with sausage ragu and Cuttlefish and pea stew. There are four delicious pizzas too made by leaving a dough based on a special blend of gluten free flours and Ferrarella water to rise for 72 hours.  That create the perfect texture for the base of the pizza which is then topped to create a traditional Pizza Napoli or finished with Nduja, lemon and rocket or Stracchino and pesto.

Like all the the Macellaio RC restaurants there’s a special Italian wine list hand picked by Robert.  I do enjoy this kind of personalised dining, where you know the wine has been specially selected to match the dishes and where there’s something genuinely passionate behind the concept.

We are sure this new concept will be a great hit – delicious Italian food inspired by Italian food culture in the heart of Fulham.  And, seamless gluten free menus can only be a good thing these days.  I’m only sad I’ve moved to South London – because this would have been right on my doorstep when I lived in West Brompton!

Fulham, London SW6 1NZ
