Beautiful Swiss chocolate from Harrogate for Easter – Bettys.
Now that Christmas and Valentine’s Day have passed, the shops have been quick to line their shelves with Easter Eggs. Glistening in their foil wrappers, they are the ultimate challenge to any attempt to lose weight or stick to a low sugar diet. One solution is to focus on quality over quantity – buy top-quality chocolate and Easter goodies
Frederick Belmont was a Swiss chocolatier who decided to travel to England. He arrived on the South Coast and got on the ‘wrong train’ which took him to Yorkshire. Luckily he liked what he found and decided to stay. There, in Harrogate, he founded Bettys over a hundred years ago. With his Swiss heritage, you would only expect the best chocolate – to this day, the quality of chocolate used in Bettys cakes, pastries, biscuits and chocolates is second to none, made from the finest Swiss Grand Cru couverture from Felchlin of Switzerland. The hundred year anniversary of Bettys was in 2019 and you can read more about their famous afternoon tea in my review of Bettys Tea Rooms in York. But what if you don’t live near York or Harrogate?
Every year Bettys make the most beautiful Easter eggs – what they produce are real works of art that are almost too good to eat. The eggs are made with top quality chocolate and hand-decorated. And, there’s more – a whole range of baked goodies – something for everyone one.
This year, I have a beautiful Easter gift box from Bettys to give away to one lucky London-Unattached reader. You’ll get traditional Simnel Fruit Cake bites, spiced Easter biscuits, an Easter butter biscuit egg, a box of hand-painted ganache eggs and a little twist of milk chocolate eggs. The gift box is worth £35 and it would make the perfect present if you are visiting relatives – or, just give you a little bit of self-indulgence over the Easter break.
If you’d like a chance to win, all you need to do is pop over to the Bettys website and take a look at this year’s Easter egg range. Which one will you pick? And who will you give it to…
