Covid-19 Shopping and more with Borough Market
Did you know that Borough Market has a really quite unique home delivery service? A number of the stall-holders work together to provide a shopping service through Good Sixty that’s available online either for home delivery by zero-emission electric cargo bike within a 3.5-mile radius or Click & Collect from the Market.
Right now, there is a doorstep drop service which means customers can receive their groceries without leaving their home and without contact with couriers. All they need to do is request a doorstep drop in the ‘note to retailer’ box when placing their order.
Alternatively, call 0117 230 5660 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a non-contact service a minimum of 4 hours before the given delivery slot. Borough Market strongly advises that customers request this service if they are self-isolating or have experienced any of the symptoms listed on NHS/public health England. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
The service includes some of the best-loved traders at Borough Market. You can buy vegetables from Teds Veg, Cheese from Neals Yard and meat from The Ginger Pig.
What’s more, they have a special Mother’s Day menu you can make at home using ingredients that you can source from the Market. I would be really pleased if someone cooked this delicious sounding Fish Stew with Rouille on Toast for me. What a fabulous idea if you can’t take your mum out for lunch!
Borough Market’s Mothers Day menu starts with Eggs Benedict with brown butter ‘yogllandaise’ (by Ed Smith) for breakfast, followed by the fish stew for lunch. Then there’s a delicious-sounding Rosemary and Citrus Olive Oil Cake from Ed Smith for afternoon tea and finally a Spring Market Salad by Jenny Chandler for dinner. They are suggesting a prosecco and blood orange mimosa (which I might just have to try myself). Or you could make the Elderflower Gimlet I created using the gin sent from the East London Liquor Company from Borough Market.
You can find all the recipes on their site – and you can buy all the ingredients from the Borough Marketing Home Delivery service.
The Market’s online shopping platform is available for customers to order delicious produce from the majority of Borough Market traders. Just to remind you, once the order is placed the Borough Market Online team will gather the produce from the relevant traders and place them in a designated hub within the Market. From here, customers can either collect their order at the Market between 12pm and 9pm or it will be dispatched via state of the art zero-emission electric cargo bike, within a reasonable distance.

I’m hoping the world will get back to normal soon and we’ll all be visiting the Market and spending hours browsing the wonderful stalls in person. In the meanwhile, if you live close enough for the e-bikes or to pop to the market and collect your shopping, please do help out smaller food producers AND yourself by shopping at Borough Market using their online shopping service. They are staying open to help the local community so please help them do just that!
