Review and Giveaway – Delicatezza – Gourmet Italian Food in London:
Would I like to review a gourmet Italian home delivery service? Almost a question that doesn’t need asking, I love Italian food and since I haven’t been to Italy since much earlier this year, I’m now missing some of the treats I brought home with me. One look at the Delicatezza website is enough to convince me that this is the real thing with high quality products and hand prepared pastas and meals. Delivery slots are conveniently on Saturday mornings or Weekday evenings and the website is beautifully laid out and very easy to navigate. I’m sold.
My budget was blown slightly by a love of Panettone (well it is Christmas!). It’s a sweet bread loaf, usually with fruit and sometimes chocolate, that for me is a great alternative to Christmas Cake. Part of the attraction is that you can make any leftovers into a really moreish bread and butter pudding. That is of course if there are any leftovers.
I picked a seemly odd assortment of goods – but one that I hoped would allow me to check out the quality of the produce as well as testing both the pasta and a ready meal. When everything arrived I had obviously not noticed the size of the nduja that I ordered (for £6.29 I got a generous 500g of sausage!). Well I’m not complaining – it has a good shelf life and is something that I love to use in cooking. I’ll be writing more about the products as I use them, for now, I can tell you that the melanzane alla parmigiana made a great supper. There was absolutely nothing that tasted ‘processed’ – and it was a lot better than the version I’ve made myself. It’s a classic northern Italian dish with layers of aubergine, grana padano cheese and a tomato sauce that you bake in the oven. I’ve looked at the ingredient list and it’s squeakily clean…Aubergine, Grana Padano, Tomatoes, Onions, Celery, Carrots, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Fresh Basil, Sea Salt, Pepper – just the sort of things I’d expect to be there with no mysterious sweeteners, flavour enhancers or anything else!
Baked in the oven for 20 minutes it was utterly delicious and the perfect supper for one.
Now, the lovely people at Delicatezza have offered me a £30 voucher for one lucky London-Unattached reader. You DO need to live within the M25 but they’ve offered to extend their delivery range just a little to make sure that anyone living in London can enter.
All you need to do is pop over to the Delicatezza website and then let me know in the comments below which three items you’d put in your shopping basket if you were lucky enough to win. Then follow the rafflecopter through.
Oh and meanwhile, you might just be tempted to shop anyway – it’s a genuine and good value service for anyone who loves Italian food.
The Delicatezza website can be found at http://www.delicatezza.co.uk/ and is full of beautiful treats.
