Facial Treatments at Home

Getting older isn’t easy, but sadly the slow steady decline of our skin is something we all have to face. After the tender age of 20, a person produces approximately 1% less collagen in the skin each year. The result is the skin slowly becomes thinner and more fragile, it starts to sag and get wrinkles. Even though this is a natural process, it is usually sped up with UV exposure, poor diet choices, pollution and bad habits. But while it’s possible to accelerate collagen loss, it’s also possible to slow it down.  I’ve just been invited to review Dermoi – a great way to do just that!

Demoi Facial

Of course, you can’t reverse the signs of ageing completely, but you can choose to take a more holistic approach with a nonsurgical route and start looking after your skin with regular facials and perfecting your skincare routine.

Where to start? The internet is flooded with so much information, different products and marketing campaigns, so it’s really confusing and difficult to know what’s right for you and your skin. The danger is you receive incorrect information, and start using high strength acids at home or going for treatments like dermaplaning which can be too abrasive and can traumatise your skin, doing more harm than good and causing the skin to age faster.

Dermoi is a cosmeceutical skincare platform for people who are looking to care for their skin. They have in-house scientists who are constantly researching, analysing, and selecting the most advanced products and treatments for your skin’s health, handpicking products from different brands in order to offer the best possible skin solutions.

Dermoi

Dermoi provides a personalised service that provides wraparound support and care for your skin’s needs including advanced facial treatments, skincare advice and a great range of skincare products and supplements to suit the individual. And the joy of it is, it all takes place in the comfort of your own home, so you don’t have to travel.

I have been under Dermois’ care for the past 3 months and have received 3 facial treatments at home along with skincare advice and the option to buy from their product range. My therapist Agnes came to my home once a month at a suitably arranged time to give me a bespoke facial treatment. This can be done in a bedroom or living room, you just need somewhere to lie down comfortably and that gives your therapist easy access to your face. There were two different treatments to choose from; The Osmosis Vitamin A Infusion Facial or the PCA Skin Facial Peel.

Prior to my sessions, I spoke to Dermoi’s in-house scientist Eve Casha who has an MSc in Pharmaceutical Formulation. Eve is very passionate about the service and how important it is to look after your skin in the right way, she was able to advise me on what treatment would be best for my skin and my personal needs. We decided that it would be most beneficial for me to have the Osmosis Vitamin A Infusion Facial.

The Osmosis Vitamin A Infusion Facial

The Osmosis treatment is a next-generation no-acid facial peel, it strengthens the skin and reduces inflammation, while the purest active powders get to the source of skin conditions.

This lovely relaxing treatment delivers a potent dose of vitamin A (retinaldehyde) deep into the skin (the dermis) using advance liposomal delivery. This stimulates long-term collagen production (up to 30 days), dermal remodelling, and barrier repair to rebuild the skin.    This infusion also incorporates pure active powders such as L-ascorbic acid (brightening vitamin C), L-mandelic acid (exfoliating), niacinamide (barrier repair and collagen-stimulating), hyaluronic acid (hydrating and plumping) and more, to provide a customised skin healing for any skin problem.

The result is calm, supple skin that has been flooded with nutrients. I was told that the downtime for this treatment was 24 hours, but in fact, my skin just started to glow almost immediately afterwards and other than not wearing makeup for the rest of the day there was no downside for me, I was so delighted with the results.

My lovely therapist Agnes, came to my home to deliver all three of my facials; first, we talked through my specific skin’s needs at the time of the treatment and any ongoing concerns, then Agnes prepared an infusion that would address general ageing as well as any current problems. During my treatment, she talked it through so I knew exactly what was going into my skin. It’s very gentle and calming and over the weeks that followed the treatment I saw a marked difference in my complexion which was smoother, plumper and more hydrated and I was complimented on the lovely youthful dewy glow which resulted.

PCA Skin Facial Peel

I think facial peels sound quite scary and I have heard about how raw and vulnerable they can leave your skin. However, the PCA Skin facial peel is quite different as it is a progressive, not aggressive procedure that resurfaces, tightens, and lifts the skin without damage.

The PCA skin facial peel never surpasses the epidermis to preserve our collagen but goes deep enough to be effective (the dermal-epidermal junction).  It combines enzymatic and/or chemical peeling (20% mandelic acid + 10% lactic acid) to leave the skin bright, re-texturized, but also strengthened.

For those who want an extra boost, an advanced treatment booster can be incorporated to give a 10hr release of a potent retinoid blend. This enhances the resurfacing and rejuvenating power of the peel, without any additional damage.   The result is a customisable facial peel that gives uniform, glowing skin to any skin. The downtime for this treatment can be up to 48 hours.

Personally, I think it’s worth investing in your skin and finding a way of incorporating a loving skincare routine into a busy lifestyle. Dermoi takes the pressure off you by providing all the support you need with their prescription service which includes personalized consultation and advice. They help you to understand your skins health and how best to care for it it along with bespoke monthly treatments and product advice which is available to buy from their website.

Dermoi

I can’t recommend Dermoi enough, I loved having regular treatments at home and I think it’s a very worthwhile investment for a healthier and younger-looking complexion.

You can opt for one-off or monthly treatments.
