Gin Mare Review – a Spanish G&T:
There is something quintessentially English about a good old G&T, maybe it’s because until recently if you thought of gin, it was likely to be a London gin. In recent years there has been an explosion of small craft distillers making a huge variety of unique gins. It seems that the appeal has spread to Spain, where it’s now an extremely popular drink, and bar tenders there have been playing with the concept of the G&T to give it a sunnier feel.
We were asked to try the Spanish brand Gin Mare; in the interests of research we also tried it neat, and it’s a beautifully rounded gin with a distinct citrus aroma and taste. Adding the most Spanish of flavours in the form of Seville orange was a great idea, and made for a really lovely and refreshing drink. The quantities and instructions can be seen in the photographs.
This would be perfect for a warm summer evening in the garden. It certainly brought a little Spanish sunshine into a rather cold and grey South London!
We were given the gin and the other ingredients by Celebrity Cruises who are challenging us to try #ATasteofTravel
