Defeat lockdown lethargy with a weekly Virtual Pub Quiz from Inquizition.
Two weeks into lockdown and a lot of us are really missing our pubs. With me, it’s not the beer (honestly!), it’s the regular weekly quiz down at The Earl Spencer on Merton Road.
Their Wednesday pub quiz is one of the many around London run by Alex Douglas of Inquizition and his team of over 40 talented quizmasters – most are actors, musicians, and comedians – who bring their extrovert energy to their quiz nights.
Alex launched his first quiz at The Regent in Balham in 2011 and over the years has built Inquizition into arguably the best pub quiz in London, combining questions pitched at just the right level with a great sense of fun.
Then Corvid-19 hit.
Faced with months of potential idleness like many others whose livelihoods depend on people going out and meeting up, Inquizition has had to use technology and social media to find new ways to carry on.
So pretty much overnight, Inquizition went from writing the best pub quiz in your local, to writing the best pub quiz in your living room. Sundays see the Inquizition Virtual Pub Quiz – a free-to-play online quiz on Facebook. Live-streaming starts from 7.55pm at www.facebook.com/InquizitionQuiz with the quiz at 8pm. All you need to take part is a piece of paper and a pen (and of course a drink).
The format is three rounds of questions, with one music round (pop music since the 60s) between two sets of 20 questions; every third question or so is a picture or some audio (mystery voices or TV themes) to identify. We did it as a family and it was great fun, pretty close to the real pub quiz experience.
And if you want to organise your own quiztastic event, Alex and his team are continuing to compile their super weekly pub quiz and it’s available to buy online at www.inquizition.com/shop for a bargain price of £12.
So why not get together with friends, family and colleagues over FaceTime, Skype, Houseparty or Zoom to play as a team or against each other?
I think we all know the answer to that one!
