4DX Movies at Cineworld, Wandsworth:
I can’t help it. I’m in love with Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress who plays Wonderwoman. So the opportunity to review her reprising that role in Justice League, the new superhero movie based on the DC comic universe, also featuring Batman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg, was too good to miss. I grew up secretly reading my friends’ DC comics, my mum didn’t approve of anything that wasn’t in hardback, and it’s been great fun exploring the movie superhero worlds with my teenage son. To be honest I’d probably go anyway…
Justice League is the fifth instalment in the DC Extended Universe being directed by Zack Snyder with a screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon. The stellar cast includes Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, the aforementioned Gal Gadot and Jeremy Irons doing an acerbic turn as Batman’s valet.Even more exciting than the cast is the fact that we are seeing Justice League in 4DX, a revolutionary cinematic experience which stimulates all five senses. 4DX includes high-tech motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents, in both 2D and 3D formats. These effects work in perfect synchronicity with the action on screen – creating the most unmissable and exhilarating cinematic experience yet. 4DX is widely considered to be the biggest innovation in cinematic technology to date. Developed in South Korea by the CJ conglomerate, a leader in the Asian entertainment industry, this amazing, new experience was warmly adopted by the big Hollywood Studios.I don’t want to give away any spoilers save to say that Gadot as Wonderwoman is awesome and that justice is restored at the end of the movie. The journey to superhero redemption is an enjoyable romp with lots of bangs and crashes and no soppy stuff. It is the 4DX effects that make the experience really special and immersive in a way that film normally isn’t. Bullets whistle past your ear, punches are thrown and hit you in the side, you are thrown around in your seats as superheroes tear up the world and each other, and when the rain falls…you get wet!I should point out that 4DX isn’t advisable for anyone pregnant, drunk, below a height of 102 cm, with a heart, blood pressure or any serious medical condition. If that counts you out I’m sorry, but for anyone else, if you enjoy thrills and spills it’s a must do. At some point, I imagine that the movies will merge with VR environments but until then 4DX is your best bet for an immersive night out.
