King Charles III:
A future history play by Mike Bartlett
Directed by Rupert Goold
The Queen is dead: after a lifetime of waiting, the Prince ascends the throne. A future of power. But how to rule? Mike Bartlett’s play explores the people underneath the crowns, the unwritten rules of our democracy, and the conscience of Britain’s most famous family.
Earlier this year Mike Bartlett’s play, King Charles III sold out at the Almeida to outstanding reviews. If you missed that production, the complete cast of the Almeida Theatre’s acclaimed production of King Charles III are currently preparing for the play’s West End transfer. King Charles III will transfer to the Wyndham Theatre for a limited season previewing from Tuesday 2 September .
Tim Pigott-Smith will once again play Charles and Oliver Chris will reprise his role as William. They will be joined by Katie Brayben, Richard Goulding, Nyasha Hatendi, Adam James, Margot Leicester, Miles Richardson, Tom Robertson, Nicholas Rowe, Tafline Steen and Lydia Wilson.
King Charles III is designed by Tom Scutt, music composed by Jocelyn Pook, lighting by Jon Clark and sound by Paul Arditti.
