Introducing Ppinger – a ginger drink that will help you stay sober but not miss the booze!

Kyon Drinks makes plant-based, naturally healthy and lightly sparkling non-alcoholic alternatives to alcoholic beverages. It aims to give you all the pleasures of drinking without the alcohol. Containing only naturally occurring sugars, the drinks also aim to satisfy a sweet tooth without any of the guilt. All their drinks are based on spicy ginger.

Ppinger Cocktails

The Ppinger comes in a clear glass bottle (250ml) and has a light yellow hue reminiscent of pineapple and apple juice combined. However, sip the drink and you can definitely feel the kick its main ingredient, ginger!

Extracted from the fresh rhizome (root), their organic ginger is sourced from Peru and Costa Rica. Packed with antioxidants and with myriad health benefits, this superfood was considered a luxury for over 5,000 years. A natural immune booster and potent anti-inflammatory, ginger helps prevent oxidative stress by stabilising cell-damaging free radicals which may help protect against cancer and strokes. Ginger can also settle upset stomachs, morning sickness and relieve period pain. After a big night, it can also help regulate blood sugar levels, stimulate blood flow and potentially relieve hangovers!

Ppinger is best served chilled and I prefer it served in a glass with lots of ice. The drink tastes very strongly of ginger, which makes every sip pack a punch. It’s not too sweet, not too strong, and it doesn’t just taste like regular juice. I feel like the balance of flavours is just right with ice, but if it’s too strong, you can always dilute it with some tonic water.

Since this drink packs a punch, I find this is a good companion for relaxing after a stressful day, or as an emotional coaxer if you need to power through in the evening. I also find it a nice alternative for a weekend brunch drink if you want something fancier than juice but want to skip the alcohol.
