Sunday Memories:
Sundays tend to make me feel a little nostalgic. So this London Lens is a collection of old photos
This is my brother…having fun learning to ride. Poor horse looks quite terrified!
All of these photos including the self portrait at the very end of himself with mum were taken by my dad who was a keen photographer. I think I developed my hatred of being photographed because he spent his time taking pictures of us all. Of course, pre-digital photography the film had to be developed. My dad had a dark room up in the attic, with mysterious trays, strange lights, bottles of unknown substances and a washing line strung up across the room. We’d sneak in to try and find out what he was doing. In this era of digital photography it’s easy to forget just how difficult it was to get perfectly composed photos. There was no photoshop. You could play around with exposure when you developed films and you could crop your prints – but there really wasn’t a lot more that an amateur photographer like my father could do at home. So, when I look back at these it is will a real respect for his skill. My own photos are not there yet. And that’s with the help of a lot of modern technology.
With the calming influence of his older sister my brother looks quite normal…
Although the pair of them together did have a wicked look
They were quite sweet when they were younger, my brothers.
Last but not least, my parents
You captured some fine moments. The horse has such a great expression!!
What great photos. I love the array of photos you included .. your brothers and other people. wow.
