The Canalway Cavalcade – London Shell Co and Fishers Gin:
There are times when last-minute invitations to preview events are just too good to turn down…and that’s just what happened to me on Monday when I was invited along to find out more about The London Shell Co and Fishers Gin and their participation in the Canalway Cavalcade on 5th May 2019
On Sunday, there’s a very special waterside festival, the Canalway Cavalcade illuminated boat procession. And, as part of that event, Fishers Gin has partnered with London Shell Co to join in the fun. You’ll get to dine on a special three-course seafood menu paired with four complementary gin cocktails from Fisher Gins – the perfect way to get a taste of life on the water.
Imagine journeying west through Notting Hill at twilight, joining the illuminated boat procession and feasting as you go on fabulous British seafood with paired cocktails from Fishers.
I got a bit of a taste of what will be on offer, though we did a shortened route up to Camden rather than following the procession as you will be doing on Sunday. That evening you’ll travel up to Ladbroke Grove & back passing the light industrial buildings that skirt the Grand Union Canal. It sounds wonderful!
Here are just a few tasters of the kind of food and drinks you can expect, though I believe the menu will depend on what is available on the day.
How about Fishers coastal Martini paired with Gin Cured Chalk Stream Trout, Sea Herbs and Jersey Royals?
Or Rhubarb, Blood Orange and Cucumber Salad with Fishers Gin & Tonic Sorbet and a Rhubarb Fishers Sour pairing?
It’s a unique experience and one which I can highly recommend based on just the preview. Not only will you have some amazing food and great cocktails, but taking part in the illuminated procession where boat owners compete for the title of ‘best-dressed boat’ is something you won’t want to miss.
Date: Sunday 5th May
Time: Doors at 6 pm for a 6:30 pm departure
Price: £50 for the cruise, three-course meal and four complimentary drinks from Fishers Gin Tickets can be bought for this event and others from the London Shell Company website
Fishers Gin is made in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, between the sea and the salt marshes and uses unique coastal botanicals and local herbs to create a very special artisan Gin. Founder, Andrew Heald, was inspired to create a gin that reflects the power of the sea and the beauty of the windswept landscape. The perfect partner for this special event. If you just want to try the gin it’s available from Fortnum & Mason, Harvey Nichols and other premium drinks retailers nationwide. Find out more from their website.
