Natural and nourishing lunches and dinners to West London
Meal delivery services have become the new norm this past year, and with cafes and restaurants closed for so many months, most of us will admit to indulging in the joys of ordering a meal online which can be delivered right to your doorstep. Takeaway nights have always felt like a real treat in my household and my family love them, but as boring as it sounds, I’m not keen on junk food and I prefer to stick to a relatively healthy, balanced diet. I have found that most take-outs tend to be quite fat and carb-heavy with limited nutritional value.
So, I was really excited to discover Maple Street Eats, a brand new delivery service from the team behind maple&CO which has recently launched, bringing delicious, natural, and nourishing lunches and dinners to West London, available through Deliveroo, UberEats and Just Eat.
The Miso Group is behind the popular natural health brand maple&CO, which was founded by Canadian entrepreneurial natural chef Adria Wu who grew up in Canada and was exposed to a wealth of global cuisines before training at Le Cordon Bleu and the College of Naturopathic Medicine, where she also teaches today. Funnily enough, a friend of mine is currently training there and she has great admiration for Adria’s cooking and was rather jealous to hear that I was going to be trying it out.
Maple&CO is best known for making healthy balanced food with fresh seasonal produce. They already operate in six locations across London, providing the perfect grab-and-go dishes for city dwellers and workers. But like us all they have become increasingly aware of the changing climate especially now that more people are working from home, so they decided to set up Maple Street Eats to make sure that they could still provide nourishing dishes for all their loyal customers as well as opening up the service to a whole new market.
“During the past year we’ve had time to take a breath and work on our next move at maple&CO and we are really excited to finally launch our day to evening delivery concept, Maple Street Eats. We wanted to shake up delivery menu options and serve our West London base with an even more diverse, globally-inspired menu that’s nutritious and healthy at its core, with more indulgent homemade options available too,” says founder Adria Wu.
This is feel-good food, inspired by flavours from cuisines all over the world, with the message of healthy balance at its core. However, unlike some ‘healthy food’ these dishes are not in the slightest bit boring, the menu offers a great selection of tempting options; modern global cuisine with bold flavours. I enjoyed some chicken dishes but it’s also suitable for vegetarians and vegans, plus they provide dairy and gluten-free plus a few indulgent options for when you fancy something sweet.
I have a few food intolerances; the team was more than happy to provide a meal that suited my dietary needs.
We ate a delicious Katsu curry with crispy chicken and a homemade Japanese Katsu sauce, served with some earthy miso brown rice complemented perfectly with fine slices of pickled cucumber and pink ginger.
The Mac ‘n’ Greens is seriously tasty, made with three kinds of cheese, warm and creamy, cut through with fresh chunks of green kale, broccoli and mangetout and topped with a crispy herbed breadcrumb… great comfort food!
The sides were excellent too – a pot of Veg Slaw provided a lovely combination of fresh and crunchy shredded carrots and cabbage which was perked up with a cool coconut yoghurt dressing and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. A portion of their signature crisp and fluffy Waffle Fries with a small pot of roasted garlic and herb vegan mayo perfect for dipping and very moreish, and for an added protein hit, some tender and moist, warm herby grilled chicken thighs topped with piquant buffalo sauce.
And, if you fancy something sweet and a little indulgent, I can highly recommend the Dangerously Good Dark Chocolate Brownie and the Cookie with Pecans, Hazelnuts, and a touch of cinnamon.
I’ll definitely be going back for seconds as there are so many more tempting dishes to try out….. hearty rice bowls such as the Halloumi Shakshuka, the Hot Korean, inspired by traditional Korean hot dish Bibimbap, and their signature salads look really good and include the Vegan Falafel or the Julius Caesar made with red and white quinoa. For burger lovers, there’s an option of chicken or plant-based burgers and a range of sides and sauces are available to truly personalise orders and cater to all dietaries and tastes.
So, if you’re a West Londoner like me, why not treat yourself to a delicious, nutritious, and thoroughly modern meal delivered to your door.
