Neverworld – Hidden Festival in Hever:

An unexpected delight for us last year was being invited to Neverworld, a festival held near Hever in the beautiful Kent countryside.   Now we are looking forward to returning for Neverworld 2019

Neverworld 2019 Preview - lake in the woodsThe story of Neverworld started in 2006 when Lee Denny‘s parent’s left him alone for a week with one simple rule: do not have a house party. Lee and his friends dodged that rule by holding a festival in the garden instead: and LeeFest was born. Since then, the festival has grown year on year, and in our view quite rightly picking up multiple awards along the way. From these small beginnings, Lee has built Neverworld – a festival where you don’t have to grow up (at least for one weekend).

Neverworld - steampunk pirate area
Although it now has a capacity of 5,000 Neverworld retains a boutique and quirky feel.   We loved how friendly everyone was, including the artists who mingled and chatted happily with the fans.  The Neverwoods, Skull Ridge and Mermaids Lagoon make up Neverworld. With 11 stages (all with very good views) and 24 hours of music and partying, it’s sure to be an unforgettable weekend for those lucky enough to attend.
Nevrworld - Craft beerClose attention is paid to locally sourced good quality food and drink; which is something that bigger festivals could learn from.  There are plenty of activities for children too.  Last year these covered arts and crafts, story-telling and even a crash course in survival skills.
Neverworls - finale 2018The Vaccines are set to headline the main stage on Friday and will be joined by some great artists including Black Honey, Futureheads and Brit-Pop heroes Sleeper. Neverworld 2019 Preview - The VaccinesOver the coming months more will be revealed about the festival’s extensive 2019 lineup, as well as the other adventures which await festival-goers.  I can’t wait to see what Lee has in store for us this year at Neverworld 2019!

Neverworld takes place from the 1st-4th August, in Hever, Kent. Tickets are available now from the Website.  Read our review of last year’s festival and book your own tickets for Neverworld.  We’ll see you there!

About Sarah James

Sarah works full time in the NHS as a serious education and organisation development director. When she lets her hair down it’s to indie bands, preferably live, as she seeks to retain her rock chic status. Sarah makes a mean cocktail and loves trying out new food and drink recipes. Out and about she’s often found sipping champagne, fuelling her curry addiction, and enjoying fine dining. Sarah loves exploring both in the UK and abroad, especially places that are off the beaten track, and/or offer fantastic local food and drink.
