A touch of vintage glamour….
It’s incredible what the simple addition of a new chair can do to a room. My Melina blue vintage velvet cocktail chair has completely transformed my sitting room adding a welcome touch of elegant glamour and 1950s swagger to my home.
These classic tub chairs are from a range at Sloane & Sons, who along with their industry expertise and heritage have been crafting chairs since 1989. Sloane & Sons are a family-owned business founded in the heart of the Midlands, they started out as a store but have now turned to online sales to reach a larger audience. They have been supplying chairs and cushions for over 25 years; they have a wealth of knowledge in the industry and are very proud of their hands-on approach and high-quality products.
The Cocktail chair is beautifully made and styled in four resplendent colours; a magnificent deep sapphire blue, a bold red, a glorious mustard yellow and a fine emerald green.
These super stylish chairs are based on the classic 50’s design, upholstered in plush velvet with deep padding to the back and seat with a shell appearance to the back. They are built on a strong wooden frame and simple wooden legs.
With four colours to choose from I pondered for some time as to which one to choose, but finally I opted for the rich blue, which I am absolutely delighted with it goes perfectly with my décor and adds a bit of colour to my neutral pallet.
The joy of the cocktail chair is that it works in numerous different spaces. Initially, I had planned to put it in my newly built loft bedroom which I have just moved into as it’s the perfect chair for a bedroom, in fact, I remember my mother having one very similar in hers. And although one doesn’t want to cover it for long it is ideal for flinging clothes on when you’re doing some indecisive dressing like am prone to do. However I was so impressed with it, it seemed a shame not have it on show so I have given it pride of place in my sitting room. I am looking forward to showing it off to my Christmas guests, and I am hoping they will admire it as much as I do.
These iconic cocktail chairs were first found in the home in the mid-20th century, often upholstered in sumptuous velvet they bridged the gap between the functional dining chair and plush armchair. Their retro style is an ideal addition to any contemporary home. They lend themselves to a variety of different interior styles; working equally well when positioned alone or as a pair (I might just be having to get my self another one!) alongside a side table or other occasional furniture to create a practical and tasteful feature in your home. For the classic look you could invest in a chic vintage cocktail trolley and place it between the pair with some beautiful vintage glasses on, they are very much back in fashion at the moment and are available in lots of modern retailers.
This high-quality chair comes at a very reasonable price, normally retailing at £245 but now on offer for £175. It’s available to order online, and they have them in stock so can deliver very quickly. Mine arrived in a big box, it was very simple to assemble, just the legs were separate and needed screwing on. I was really impressed with the quality, it’s very well made and feels great to the touch, and I just loved the colour, which was much richer and more opulent than it looked in the pictures. The seat and the back are beautifully padded which makes it remarkably comfortable.
So if you’re looking to transform your space and make a statement in your home, I can really recommend this classically shaped cocktail chair, choose from one of four stunning colours and brighten up your room in style.
