Stay Young and Beautiful with The Fellowship
To be honest, I’ve let myself go during lockdown, so when I was offered the opportunity to review a brand new men’s grooming brand, The Fellowship, I didn’t have to think too hard about it. Launched on 14th June and created by male supermodel and entrepreneur Andrew Cooper, and brand expert and marketeer, Duncan Morris, the Fellowship is ‘a new men’s high-performance grooming brand with a difference’. My job is to work out what that difference is.
The initial launch of products brings together five essentials; the Advanced Moisturiser (hydrating skin and reducing fine lines), Strengthening Shampoo (stronger hair for maximum thickness), Nourishing Conditioner (enriching hair for maximum strength), Energising Body Wash (reinvigorated skin that’s deeply cleansed) and Toning Body Moisturiser (firmer skin that’s smooth and ultra-hydrated). I had been hoping to try out the Advanced Moisturiser. It’s meant to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and frankly, I need help. It uses exciting sounding ingredients such as Borage, Sea Buckthorn and Prickly Pear and I’m sure it would have taken years off me.
However, I received two hair products, the Strengthening Shampoo and the Nourishing Conditioner – it’s a good thing I’ve still got some hair! So I started with the Strengthening Shampoo (£16.00 for 300ml). It contains an amino acid blend, charcoal and coconut and is suitable ‘for fine and thinning hair types’. This suits me perfectly as I have a fine head of thinning hair… My first surprise is the colour of the shampoo which is black. I should have guessed with the charcoal in the ingredients. It feels slightly oilier than other shampoos but lathers up easily. It feels a bit like putting squid ink on your hair but it has a light fragrant smell and leaves the hair feeling really clean. The shampoo protects against free radicals and is designed to be used regularly. Each product has its own ‘hack’ – for the shampoo, it involves massaging the shampoo into the roots of your hair to stimulate hair growth.
After rinsing out the shampoo I rubbed a dollop of the Nourishing Conditioner (£16.00 for 300ml) into my hair. With a blend of ‘amino acid for strength, cedar wood to reduce shedding and neroli to stimulate the scalp and encourage microcirculation’. The texture is creamy and after leaving it in for a few minutes and the rinsing out my hair is both much easier to manage than usual and has an unfamiliar silkiness. I was impressed with the products; there genuinely is a difference between them and the mass-produced chemical cocktails available in supermarkets. They feel as if they are made with top-quality ingredients that get better results than the standard offer. And on top of all this, they are also vegan, cruelty-free and come in recycled packaging. So if you are looking for a gift for the man in your life or are a chap who wants something a cut above on the male grooming front, then you should give The Fellowship a try.
