A non-invasive eye lift with Thermage FLX

There’s no doubt that the ageing process is set to try us but with ever-evolving skincare treatments, there is hope for us all no matter what age we are.

I always think you can rely on your eyes, as regardless of your age they keep their colour and sparkle, but lately, I have been concerned about the skin around my eyes which is becoming more lined and my lids are beginning to sag slightly. Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes are often the first features to betray our age. The skin around your eyes is really thin, therefore it’s more susceptible to breaking down, which means it’s more prone to laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, becoming looser and thinner.

The tissue beneath the eyes is naturally deficient in many essential elements that contribute to the strength of your skin—there is very little soft tissue, such as fat or muscle. The lack of those supporting elements increases the likelihood of the skin caving in and getting saggy eyelids. Plus, of course, lifestyle choices also make a considerable impact, a combination of sun exposure, dehydration, sleep deprivation all contribute to the deterioration of the skin around the eyes.

When it comes to restoring a youthful look, your eyes are your greatest opportunity. I was very excited to find out about Thermage FLX, an FDA-approved skin tightening treatment that can be used around the eyes which address age-related skin issues particularly those that are primarily caused by sun damage such as crepiness, loose skin and texture changes.

The Thermage FLX is a non-invasive treatment that uses a radiofrequency machine to help the skin produce more collagen over a 12-month period, tightening and lifting the whole area around the eyes. You only need one treatment to stimulate the skin’s production of collagen and elastin, which works over an extended period of time, meaning plumper tighter skin for longer.

This seemed to be the perfect treatment for me to address my concerns. My appointment was made at 111 Harley St.’s London clinic in Devonshire Place. The clinic has the most advanced machines and withholds over 10 years of practitioner experience, so it is no surprise that it has become one of their most popular treatments.

On arrival at the clinic my therapist Karishma asked me to fill in a medical form before going on to carefully explain the treatment process. I am a bit nervous about my eyes are being touched, but Karishma was very gentle and the whole treatment was remarkably straightforward and pain-free. You do feel a slightly hot, burning sensation in the more sensitive areas but at no time did it bother me unduly.

Before starting the treatment Karishma placed a return pad of my stomach which acts as a conductor for the radiofrequency machine. She worked on one eye at a time, first by adding tetracaine eye drops which numb the eye and an eye shield to protect it before moving the machine gently around the eye area. The improved AccuREP technology has an automatic calibration which allows for a real-time feedback-controlled per-pulse adjustment of the radiofrequency delivery. This disperses the heat more evenly, improving precision, consistency and predictability.

I did notice a slight tightening and plumping after the treatment but the reality is there is no immediate magic and you have to be patient, as the results are gradual as collagen continues to be stimulated for up to two years.

I am really looking forward to benefitting from the longer-term effects which include:

* A softening of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
* Smoother skin under eyes
* A reduction of the appearance of hooded and loose skin on upper eyelids
* Improved the texture of the skin around the eyes
* A subtle brow-lift

I am not the only one enjoying the benefits of this fabulous treatment, currently, over two million Thermage treatments have been performed and it’s the only FDA-approved non-invasive eye skin tightening treatment. It is also loved by the stars, Demi Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston are all known to have used it.

The good news is that Thermage FLX, can also be used in other areas including the face, neck and jawline and the stomach and body, so it can be personalised to your specific needs. Plastic Surgeon Dr  Angelica Kavouni has seen a 200% increase in interest for the buttocks, knees and elbows this summer, and it’s also vastly popular on the neck and arms.

I am delighted with the service I received at 111 Harley St, it was friendly, pain-free and efficient, and it’s a real bonus that Thermage FLX, is delivered in one single treatment, so no endless visits to the clinic.

Could this be the ultimate alternative to a facelift!
