The Ultimate Espresso Martini kit

The Espresso Martini has taken the cocktail scene by storm, it was born in the 1980s in London’s Soho, the invention of a British bartending guru called Dick Bradsell who revolutionized the London cocktail scene in the 1980s working in bars such as The Player, 6 Degrees and Match. The story goes that Bradsell created the drink after a young model, who he claims is now world-famous, sidled up to the bar in Fred’s Club and asked for something to “wake me up and f**k me up”. So, with a sumptuous combination of vodka, fresh espresso, coffee liqueur and sugar, he shook up a frothy mix which at first, he called a Vodka Espresso then the Pharmaceutical Stimulant. This wonderfully rich, smooth, strong but sweet pick-me-up cocktail is now known as the Espresso Martini.

As much as I love going out to cocktail bars, I also think it’s rather fun to make cocktails at home, but it can be difficult to have all the right ingredients needed in your cupboard. This is where the Cocktail Society come in – the UK’s leading cocktail delivery and cocktail subscription box service. Their products include a range of cocktail gift sets, bottled cocktails and a cocktail discovery subscription. The Cocktail Society offers a selection of different sets with lots of the old favourites including Old Fashions, Pina Colada, Negronis, Bloody Marys and a selection of martinis.

The Cocktail Society Espresso Martini

My DIY Espresso Martini kit was delivered to my door, it included a smart cocktail shaker, two 50ml Chase Original Potato Vodka bottles, two 50ml Mr Black Cold Brew Coffee Liqueurs, a can of the Bottleshot Cold Brew Coffee and coffee beans, which was enough to make four Espresso Martinis, plus a premium snack and a simple recipe card. All I needed was glasses and ice. It was easy to make, I simply followed the instructions, and I have to say I was rather impressed with the results. Our Espresso Martinis had the perfect frothy top and tasted utterly delicious… rich, indulgent and creamy, it’s pretty much like your after-dinner coffee, liqueur, and dessert all in one, and the shot of espresso will give you that boost of energy if you are flagging after a busy day!

Espresso Martini - The Cocktail Society Kit

Have you ever noticed that Espresso Martinis are always garnished with three coffee beans? Apparently, this is the cocktail’s trademark and the beans are said to represent health, wealth and happiness and come from the traditional serving of Sambuca in Italy, where the beans are called con la mosca, which means “with the fly”.

Espresso Martinis- The Cocktail Society

The Espresso Martini is now a worldwide modern classic and with the help of the Cocktail Society, you can make them in the comfort of your own home. These kits would make a great gift and a fantastic way to celebrate the festive season.
