An Ultimate Winery Experience Down Under.

Brunch is a lovely leisurely way to start the day. Audrey Wilkinson Winery offers an ultimate winery experience; Sparkling Brunch in the Vines takes brunch to another level.

Audrey Wilkinson Winery Hunter Valley NSW

The Audrey Wilkinson Winery is located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia and is one of the oldest vineyards in the area.  The winery has been producing quality wines for 150 years. The cellar door, where you go to sample wines produced by the vineyard, is off the road on a foothill of the Brokenback Mountain range with an amazing 360-degree view over the vines and the surrounding countryside.

Our Sparkling Brunch experience was on the lovely, spacious, terrace with a backdrop of an old wine barrel and the vineyard stretching into the distance. Our friendly waitress greeted us and gave us some background information about the wines pairing the brunch and the history of Audrey Wilkinson who founded the vineyard.

The food was presented on a sturdy wooden stand. We started with small, soft, freshly baked bread rolls with tasty ham, cheese and baby vine tomatoes. The sweet element was pastries, fresh croissants, macarons and brownies accompanied by succulent strawberries and blueberries.

We started by sampling a glass of Audrey Wilkinson 2019 Blanc de Blanc (Orange) sparkling wine. A fruity and light sparkling wine that was perfect for the occasion and would be a great wine for any celebration.

To follow, a glass of 2022 Winemaker’s Selection Verdelho (Hunter Valley). This crisp dry white wine tasted of melon and other fruits.

A highlight for me was the 2023 Audrey Series Rosé (Hunter Valley). A pale rosé made from a blend of Shiraz, Merlot and Verdelho. This wine was smooth, fruity and refreshing.

The last wine we tasted was a 2017 Cuvee Rouge (Hunter Valley); a deep red fizzy wine served lightly chilled.

The Sparkling Brunch in the Vines is an excellent way to taste wines produced by Audrey Wilkinson Winery together with a selection of delicious food. Moving inside from the terrace there is the bar, a large, airy, tasting room and a fascinating museum where you can discover the history of the vineyard.

On the top of the hill, beyond the terrace, stands a statue of Audrey Wilkinson in front of a large, ancient, oak tree. It’s the perfect spot to stop and admire the panoramic views over the Hunter Valley.

The Sparkling Brunch in the Vines would be a lovely experience to celebrate a special occasion or to take time out and enjoy the quality wines produced by the vineyard along with food.  The cost is $75 per person and includes a bottle of wine for every two people.
