Location, Location, Location

The location of your hotel is a key element in the planning of a successful city break. You don’t want to be wasting valuable time travelling in from the suburbs when you could be enjoying your chosen destination.

 NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade EXTERIOR

The NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade, which we were invited to review, couldn’t be better situated for visitors to Lisbon. It sits in the Baixa district of the city as part of a modern retail development on the elegant tree-lined Avenida da Liberdade. This elegant avenue is Lisbon’s central promenade, combining the leafiness of London’s Park Lane with the upscale shopping of Bond Street and the showbiz of Shaftesbury Avenue. The hotel is brilliantly connected with the Avenida metro stop just outside its entrance. If you need some retail therapy, you can find Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent right next to the hotel.

 NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade bar

You enter the modern lobby bar where the check-in desk is situated. The process at NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade was quick and efficient, and the staff brought us welcome cooling glasses of home-made lemonade.

 Lisboa Liberdade BEDROOM

We were staying on the 4th floor, and the exterior lift gave us wonderful city views. The hotel is modern and well-designed. The contemporary-style bedroom is a haven of subtle creams and grey tones. The room has everything that a business traveller or tourist might need. There’s a desk, a flatscreen TV, a minibar, a coffee maker, a kettle, a steamer and a safe. There is plenty of wardrobe space and enough shoe storage for Imelda Marcos.

 Lisboa Liberdade BED

The bed is very firm and comfortable with good quality linen and the option of a pillow menu. The bed is framed by attractive metal industrial-style light fittings, and there are plenty of chargers and mains sockets as well as excellent WiFi connectivity.

 Lisboa Liberdade BATHROOM

The bathroom at NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade is decked out in cream-coloured marble. There’s a lovely walk-in rainfall shower and plenty of NH toiletries to go round. There are thoughtful touches such as mouthwash, a dental kit, a comb and hairbrush, a vanity kit, a shower cap and a hairdryer.

The hotel’s rooftop, with its views of St Jorge’s Castle and the Tagus River, hosts a gorgeous pool and bar area which is buzzing in the summer months.

 Lisboa Liberdade BREAKFAST

I’m a sucker for a breakfast buffet, and the NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade doesn’t disappoint. There are fresh juices, a tea and coffee machine with alternative milk products if required, and a sumptuous selection of meats, cheeses, salads, pastries and cereals. Eggs are cooked to order, and the makings of a full English are available if that’s your thing, as well as traditional Portuguese dishes. The hotel has a
smart restaurant, do Teatro, serving Portuguese cuisine.

 Lisboa Liberdade VIEW

The NH Collection Lisboa Liberdade’s central location made our stay in Lisbon a real pleasure. The staff are charming and helpful, and when we needed a local late-night dinner spot, they came up trumps. The hotel has a conference room that can take up to 40 people

We flew from London Gatwick, making our journey smoother with Holiday Extras. Their airport parking service made parking hassle-free, and we started our trip in style with a hearty lunch at the Plaza Premium Lounge before our long flight. The lounge is attractively furnished with fabulous views of the airfield. Hot and cold drinks are included as well as beer, wines, spirits and mixers. For more complex concoctions, there is bar service. There were hot rice-based meals with a vegetarian option, soups and salads and even strawberry jelly for the kids! It was an oasis of calm after the hustle and bustle of the airport.

Holiday Extras is the market leader in UK airport parking, hotels, lounges, and transfers – and in 2025, its customers saved an average of £200 per trip by booking their airport parking in advance. Plus, with Flextras, if you need to cancel or amend, you can do so without charge. Three days’ Maple Meet & Greet Parking at Gatwick North Terminal is available for £57.25 based on arrival on 25/03/2026. Entry into the Plaza Premium Lounge at Gatwick North Terminal is available for £44.00 based on arrival on 25/03/2026. For more information and to book, visit HolidayExtras.com or call 0800 316 5678.
